Laura MaeEllen Levescy
Well, since major league baseball players think that finishing the season isn't at the top of their priority list, I would like to tell you about a family that has a very new priority in their household!

| My best friend Tom Levescy in Oklahoma City and his wife Jamie welcomed the birth of their second daughter recently. Laura MaeEllen Levescy was born on July 25th. She weighed 8 pounds and 9 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long. She already has an older sister named Katherine Esther, who was born on Aug. 23, 2000. When I moved to Georgia with my wife Melissa nearly three months ago, we left Oklahoma with heavy hearts. While it was a great opportunity for my wife professionally, we knew that it was going to be hard on us from an emotional standpoint. All of our family and friends are in Oklahoma. With roots firmly planted in the "Sooner State," it's hard to call anyplace else home, though we think the state of Georgia has lots to offer. | Tom Levescy |
Last November, when Tom first told me that Jamie was pregnant again, it got me to thinking about my future as a father. Melissa and I don't have any children yet, but we want to have some eventually. Whether we have a child on purpose or "on accident" in the near future remains to be seen. I know my parents (Richard and Margaret) would love to have a grand child soon.
All I know is that I hope to be half the father that Tom has been so far to Katherine - and the father that he will be to Laura. It's really weird to think that my best friend that I've known for over half my life has two kids already while I don't have any.
| However, I'll just look at him and say I'm studying to be the best father I can. Laura might be proud to know that she is on the world wide web right now through this website. But, she'll be prouder to know that she has a great father. Tom, you've been the best friend I've had for over 20 years now - dating all the way back to our days of Little League with the Fossil Drillers. I'm glad to know that you're passing on your genes to the next generation. Lord knows, with the way the world is these days, we need better people in the world - people like the Tom Levescys of the world. Congratulations, Tom and Jamie, on your second kid. Sorry I wasn't available to visit you after she was born, but you know my thoughts and my heart were with you on your glorious day of deliverance. I look forward to seeing Laura soon the next time I visit Oklahoma. I miss everyone in Oklahoma very much! | The Levescy Family (Kate, Tom, Jamie, Laura) |
